Revered as the "Holy Land" by three of the world's great religions, Palestine exists simultaneously as a site for deep spiritual devotion, as well as an arena for global political conflicts. Its diverse inhabitants and visitors regularly implore divine compassion by repeating the incantations "Ya Rab irham," "Kyrie Elison," "God Have Mercy" "Yahuwah, Ayl Rachum v'chanoon," "Bism Allah Al-Rahman al-Raheem."
Since years, I have been observing how the Bethlehem city is evolving and I always wonder how human beings are unconsciously affected by their surroundings. The landscape of Bethlehem Governorate, like other Palestinian cities, is changing dramatically.
My project challenges the viewer to reflect on the question: How merciful are we to each other? At the same time, it works like spreading prayers around the city hoping that God will be merciful and save us from our own evil.
